Arlington has many parks, but one of the most beloved recreation areas is the “bike path”, the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway.
The bike path connects Alewife, Arlington Center, Lexington Center, and Bedford with a trail of woods, wildlife, Spy Pond, shops, and restaurants. Commuters flock to the path to bike to Cambridge and the Red Line.
Like many efforts at change, the fight to build the path took a long time. Eighteen years of advocacy and effort went into finally moving the path forward.
The bike path today is full of people of all ages who use it to commute, get exercise, ski, and head to restaurants, shops, and movies.
This map shows the Minuteman stretching through Arlington and maps some of the connecting routes to access other trails.
